We left the house in Idaho Falls, filled the Jetta with diesel, picked up some soft drinks and snacks, and then we started on the road. Jack ate something simple, but we stopped in Blackfoot at McDonald's for a breakfast sandwich.
Ann put the battery in the camera, and while driving the first day, she took these photographs. Although it was nice to have something that took high grade images and "high def" video clips, it's the first time that we saw bugs on the windshield on the picture itself. Usually, the speed of the car left a slight blur that made that type of thing less noticeable.

The blue sky on the first leg of the trip was stunning, and we took a number of pictures with sapphire blue heavens and large clouds.
